3. You don’t necessarily need a lot of money to start in the export-import business

Starting an export business is possible with minimal or no funds. Sometimes, you can even receive advances from buyers. For high-demand products like handicrafts or ethnic items, you can even request 100% advance payment from the buyer.

4. You can start Exim business from a small city too. Location doesn’t have to be a barrier

Exporting from small cities is entirely possible. Many small cities in India, such as Meerut, Agra, Firozabad, K, Vadodara, Indore, and Saharanpur, produce excellent products that can be exported.

5. Exporting can be risky

Exporting can be safer than importing or domestic business when done correctly with proper training and a good understanding of the buyer’s needs. If you produce the right products to meet international quality standards and cater to buyer demand, your chances of success in the export business are high.

6. Having excellent English skills is important

Writing in English is sufficient for the export business. In fact, China, with a large population that doesn’t speak English, is the top exporter, showing that language isn’t a barrier

7. Not all buyers may offer advance payments.

Foreign buyers can provide advance payments for export orders, but it depends on building trust. You earn their trust by making accurate promises, sending the right samples the first time, and delivering the correct products. After you establish your business, their feedback can help you win more buyers’ trust and orders.

8. Export business can seem complicated

Export business is often simpler than import business nowadays. Government rules and procedures have become more straightforward with liberalization. The required documentation is much less than it used to be in the past for exports

9. Sending samples can be costly.

Sending samples isn’t necessarily very expensive. Courier companies offer discounts, and you can send a sample for around Rs 1000 or less, weighing up to 500 grams, which covers most sample sizes. India Post or Speed Post are also cost-effective options for sending samples.
